Since decades BAC incorporates 'sound' in its R&D programs. This resulted over the years in one of the most effective sound reduction offerings available in the industry today. We test all BAC equipment with and without sound attenuation and with optional whisper quiet fans at various directions, distances and fan speeds.

Proven sound data

Already 35 years ago, BAC tested full scale units with sound attenuators in order to optimize the acoustical designs and generate reliable sound data. Our document 'the fundamentals of sound' was published in the same period. Also today we  continue  with sound tests and conduct multiple witnessed factory sound tests , executed by independent third parties and witnessed by the customer.

Today, we have realized thousands of sound critical installations worldwide. Most of them have been verified by reputed independent sound consultants during factory witnessed test in a free field or "on site" tests, using a variety of sound test standards (ATC128, EN ISO 3744, DIN 45635).

This close collaboration with sound consultants did not only confirm the accuracy of our published sound data, but also provides us valuable feedback, ensuring a continuous improvement of our products, making optimal use of the latest technologies. 

This results in state of the art, sustainable solutions like BAC's evaporative condenser Polairis, which uses EC driven radial fans with customized sound attenuators for minimal air and water noise.

Selection of sound sensitive cooling equipment

Sound may be a key consideration when choosing cooling equipment.
The sound requirements of cooling equipment depend on :

  • its actual environment: what is an acceptable volume for those living or working nearby,
  • the local legal requirements.

In the fundamentals of sound, BAC describes how you can measure the impact of cooling equipment noise on the neighborhood, offers ways to reduce the impact as well as extra options or accessories to fit almost all BAC products e.g.:

  • sound attenuation
  • low noise or whisper-quiet fans
  • installation of a second motor, two-speed motor or VFD
  • water silencers

At BAC, we combine thermal ratings and acoustical test programs. We test all BAC equipment with and without sound attenuation and with optional whisper quiet fans at various directions, distances and fan speeds.

Sound pressure data per octave band and sound power data for all four sides and the top of units are available from your local BAC representative.

For indoor applications, we provide partial air inlet and discharge sound power data.
